The three-day scope was chosen to fill the specific gap between the companion boot camp and the Biostatistics Practicum: the version-control craft that a student needs within days of the first commit, but that belongs neither in a first week nor in an infrastructure course. The topic selection draws on Scott Chacon and Ben Straub’s Pro Git, Jenny Bryan’s Happy Git and GitHub for the useR, and the intermediate portions of the Software Carpentry version-control lessons.

Cover artwork generated procedurally by the R script at images/build-cover.R. Palette: deep slate through steel and pale mist, anchored on a brand steel blue #2c4a5e chosen to sit alongside, and one register cooler than, the boot camp’s rust. Typography: Avenir family (Apple system font); body text in Source Serif 4.
